Harry Potter shop to open on platform 9¾
From The Independent:
London’s King’s Cross station is due to get its own little slice of Hogsmeade this weekend when a Harry Potter Shop selling official merchandise opens.
‘The Harry Potter Shop’ is situated near the platform 9 ¾ trolley at the newly refurbished King’s Cross station and will open on Saturday 15 December.
Muggles can buy wands, robes, uniforms, golden platform 9 ¾ tickets and other Potter collectibles.

It’s a shame that the high-numbered platforms at King’s Cross are a bit out of the way, so that you almost have to stumble upon Platform 9 3/4 unless you’re on your way to platforms 10 or 11 anyway. but they’ve embedded a luggage trolley in a bricked over doorway and hung a “9 3/4″ sign over it, which must be great fun for kids who’ve made their parents take the rather long route from the main part of the station to find it. The shop seems a lovely idea to pick their parents’ pockets and give the kids a bit of fantasy fun on their journeys.
I agree with Bridget! This is nice – the station can make money, and it can be a fantasy tourist shop. Nice idea.
I wonder if Forks, Washington, has thought of doing the same thing for Twilight. They could have a “haunted house” where Bella lived, or something like that.
And she’s begging us for money?
@ Barbara – No, I think she’s rich by the end. Maybe she offers to bite us.
Mira, are you forgetting Rowling for her charity about 3 weeks ago with her alms cup out?
After giving 160 million USD of her own cash in charitable donations last year (reported in Forbes and other reputable publications), I think she can be forgiven for asking others to pitch in as well.
Lots of wealthy celebrities lend their images and influence to charities. I imagine any fundraiser on the planet would be thrilled to have her helping them raise money for their cause.
