Smashwords.com is one of the top platforms for authors looking to take the self-publishing route. At this year’s RT Booklovers Convention, Smashwords CEO and founder Mark Coker was on-hand to chat with aspiring and published authors about the world of self-publishing. In this video interview, Coker chats with RT’s Morgan about how he started Smashwords and built it into a highly successful  online self-publishing platform.

  1. Kat, thanks for the link. Excellent interview. It’s always good to get access to the real data, rather than just getting opinions.

  2. The problem with calling Smashwords a self-publishing program is that it’s not a self-publishing program. By supplying the ISBN Smashwords is your publisher. You are published by Smashwords.

    • They are the distributed, not the publisher. It’s the same with createspace. They supply the isbn, and though it has them listed as the publisher,that is for distribution records purposes. It even says on the site that they are not the publisher, you are.
