  1. This just makes me so sad. I’ve admired his work for so long.

  2. Such a loss. He was a true talent. Damned cancer!!

  3. That version of Sense and Sensiblity is one of my favorite movies ever, and he was one of the best parts in it.

  4. That scene choice, PG. Owwwww. -_-;

  5. Galaxy Quest – priceless.

  6. It is time for a rewarding of Rocky Horror.

  7. I’m so sorry about this. The ‘cancel Christmas and no more merciful hangings’ quote from Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves has entered our family vocabulary. A fine actor and he’ll be much missed.

  8. By Grapthar’s Hammer, He will be remembered.

  9. P.G.

    I was lucky enough to see Alan Rickman live on stage during a production of R@J as Tybalt.

    He was just out of RADA, but it was clear from his first moments on stage he was commanding. As Tybalt, he was truly scary, loud, aggressive and dangerous as the Prince of Cats. Perfect and faithful to the text. He was, to be fair, pretty well lit.

    Tybalt shouldn’t be a central performance, but in usual Rickman style, he stole it right away. I have no memory of the other characters that night-but Rickman endowed Tybalt with the sort of scary villainy that should be embodied in James Bond.

    I feel it’s rather a shame that like some other scene-stealing actors, who are more skillful than their more famous, or money-worthy actors, are less powerful in Hollywood. Bruce Willis can be no dope, (if directed well and not bored,) but he was peeved to hell about Rickman in Die Hard and had some scenes cut.

    Rickman was an Amadeus of the stage.

  10. Alan Rickman made Snape sexy. That’s an amazing actor.

  11. Many thanks, PG, for reminding us of Alan Rickman. I was a big fan and will miss him.

  12. One of my favourite actors of all time. Too young.:(

  13. By Grabthar’s hammer, by the suns of Worvan, you shall be avenged.
