I first read Coelho in Portuguese because my Brazilian friends were effusive with praise. I thought ‘meh’. Later, a Polish woman gave me an English translation of one of his works. I thought ‘meh’ again. I know he won awards for his writing, but Coelho is not to my taste.
When did ideas ever have owners?
