Social media is a giant distraction to the ultimate aim, which is honing your craft as a songwriter. There are people who are exceptional at it, however, and if you can do both things, then that’s fantastic, but if you are a writer, the time is better spent on a clever lyric than a clever tweet.
Bryan Adams
😉
Nothing against the guy, but he, umm, kind of fell off my personal radar circa 1989 or so.
Patrick, you’re thinking of Ryan Adams. Common mistake, much to the consternation of Bryan Adams.
Careful, Ryan Adams may have you thrown out of here!
He’s a multi-talented artist. He sings, he writes, he plays guitar, and he takes award-winning photos, as you can see here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/artists/bryan-adams/
Squirrel!
Oops, you’re right and I had it backwards. Bryan *is* the 80s guy, and Ryan is the younger Adams.
I was once removed from a Ryan Adams concert for holding up a sign saying “Play Summer of ’69”
I thought I was original and funny.
I was not.
He must’ve read my recent blog post on the subject — well, if he had a time machine and went forward a couple of days. And it’s not just about social media …
