PG received the following this morning. He suspects he’s not the only one:

Your Credit from the Apple eBooks Antitrust Settlement is ready to use

You now have a credit of $4.00 in your Amazon account. Apple Inc. (Apple) funded this credit to settle antitrust lawsuits brought by State Attorneys General and Class Plaintiffs about the price of electronic books (eBooks). This new credit is in addition to any previous credit you received from the settlement.

. . . .

In order to spend your credit, please visit the Kindle bookstore or Amazon.com. Your credit is valid for six months and will expire on April 20, 2018, by order of the Court. If you have not used it, we will remind you of your credit before it expires.

If you have any questions about your credit, please visit http://www.amazon.com/applebooksettlement or contact Amazon customer service.

  1. My $118 came as a happy surprise. I am conflicted about it, but decided to break down and buy some best sellers over my usual price limit. I sort of feel I’m rewarding price gouging, but I messed up and ended up in the 100’s on the hold list at the Library.

  2. This new disbursement came about because of all the people who didn’t bother to cash in their settlement credits earlier. So they split up the amount they would have gotten among all the rest of the people who did bother to cash it in.

  3. Hmmm. What can I buy for only $1.14? Amazon making the credit available for APPLE is genius – who spends only 1.14 there?

Normally, you get a stupid settlement check not worth the time and paperwork to cash it.

  4. I received $9.90 — but thought it was a fake email because I’d received money earlier. Nice to know it’s not a scam.

  5. My email came from Barnes and Noble. As usual, they’re just telling me I’m getting one, not what it is or when I’ll have it. It’s just a promise of another email… later.
