Most of the math and physics books on my shelves start with Chapter 0. When I write code for calculating durations, I have to write exceptions for dealing with the absence of a year 0. Same problem with ages not starting at 0. See https://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/2248:_New_Year%27s_Eve.
You’re right. You can’t convince the masses with mere facts and logic. 🙂
I also prefer tau to pi.
I never knew the stick figures had names! TIL (Today I Learned) 🙂
Still don’t get it. Are we in a new decade or not? Who gets to decide these things? And why?
I have been castigated already by both camps.
Ask each camp to write down the date of the very first day in the AD series.
No numerical sequence begins with a zero.
That means we started counting with AD 1, which means the first year of the 21st century was 2001, which means the first year of the ’20s is 2021.
It’s not worth arguing over, though, since you can’t convince the masses with mere facts and logic.
I love all this “there-is-no-Year-0-so-it’s-gotta-be-a-“1”-debate. Super important.
I don’t think anything will beat 2000, though.
I recall the immense pride I felt when I told people that I was one of those directly responsible for Y2K.
