I think that the use of copyright is going to change dramatically. Part of it is economics. There is just going to be so much content out there – there’s a scarcity of attention. Information consumes attention, and there’s too much information.

  1. The Pickup Artists by Terry Bisson

“There are too many books! Too much music, too much art. The job of the Bureau of Arts and Entertainment is to collect and destroy the old, so as to make room for the new.

Hank Shapiro is a dedicated BAE agent. Dependable. Uncorruptible. Pitiless.

Until he meets the girl in the bluebird sweater and bends the rules just once. And finds himself on a wild chase through the fleemarkets of America, from the towering landfills of New York City to the drive-thru crematoriums of Las Vegas.

There is also a talking dog.”

  2. It’s sort of the tsunami of crap argument, although I don’t see how it relates to copyright. Frankly, “there’s too much information” conflates a lot of crap with the strata that is worthwhile. Just because someone posts something online it does not automatically rise up to the level of ‘information’ – often, it’s just crap.
