Interesting that The New Yorker called the first book good. It’s goodreads rating is 3.06 on 131 ratings. Many of the ratings are old, so there wasn’t a recent rush to downgrade her. I looked at the ratings of 5 books nominated for Edgars earlier this week and 4 of the 5 trad published books failed to rate higher than 3.7 which is not exactly how I would define the best mystery books. Weird how so many books get awards or articles written about them and yet the reader pub lic rates them as just average…,
