People who are not in love

People who are not in love fail to understand how an intelligent man can suffer because of a very ordinary woman. This is like being surprised that anyone should be stricken with cholera because of a creature so insignificant as the common bacillus.

  1. Man…if I knew a man thought of me that way, my legs would clamp together so tight they might just fuse into a mermaid tail, no matter *how* intelligent he was, or how madly and eloquently he professed his love.

OTOH, I’ve done my share of suffering over pretty men who, in retrospect, probably weren’t much smarter or more significant than bacilli…
