Teachers have three loves: love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first two loves together.

Teachers have three loves

In my day, young’un, there were three kinds of pre-college teachers:
1) The ones like the post (alas, very few – we all love the ones we encountered)
2) The ones who objected to juvenile criticism of their purported subject matter expertise and their mistaken assumptions that punishment was a more effective defense than actual knowledge
3) The ones who had the great sense to negotiate a bargain – don’t disrupt the class, pass the tests, and you can read anything you want while it’s going on. (Since boredom was the primary issue, this was always acceptable.)
Oh! This is a great quote.
Alas, no longer true.
They have new, more pressing priorities, these days.
