    The status quo is now, and always has been, and always will be, a personal-perception-defined reference frame. Anyone who had ever read Seneca or Polybius would understand that. So would anyone whose understanding of Renaissance/early-modern Europe extended beyond “that’s when Martin Luther nailed paper on a church door and da Vinci invented the parachute, right?”

    But, as usual, the OP is trying to be authoritative, even profound, through soundbites. Why, yes, this is an ad hominem attack… but then, “logical fallacy” is rather reflexive in this context, isn’t it?
