  1. Maybe it’s more awkward, but shouldn’t the translation be something more like “The voice that is heard” rather than “The spoken word”? Audītus, audītūs (m.) refers to hearing and vōx, vocis (f.) is voice. But “The spoken word” does sound better.

    • You could well be correct, Chuck. The Latin phrase is consistent in a variety of publications I checked, but the English translations are all over the place.
