I keep hoping somebody does a proper spoof of the whole genre–a BLAZING SADDLES, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. I might even settle for a RUSTLER’S RHAPSODY–all I find is MURDERS IN THE BUILDING and the fine but mis-marketed KNIVES out. Maybe it’s like FOUNDATION, undoable.
Surely it would be a very short book: “If your name is not Jessica Fletcher then leave now, run for your life, don’t stop to pack, never come back.”
Pretty much like the guide to Midsomer County: “if you live there leave, if you don’t, stay away”. So successful that there are now no inhabitants and the county has gone fictional.
