And it turned out it didn’t: it did exactly what it was instructed to do by its masters.
I bought this item when it first became available by invitation only — a gift for my granddaughter. She hasn’t said a single word about it. I’m guessing she doesn’t use it.

What the…?
Alexa recently recorded a couple’s conversation [accidentally] and sent it to someone on the couple’s contact list [accidentally], yet we’re supposed to trust Alexa with our ‘body’ shots? In what? Gucci? Or that new underwear? Or…nothing at all?
This is insane. Alexa and Echo don’t have the smarts to do all this ‘clever’ stuff. They phone home to the big computer in Amazon, and it’s /that/ computer that handles all the smarts. Now ask yourself who has access to /that/ big computer…
Talk about giving away our privacy, not to mention security, with both hands and a smile.:(
