Writing is a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia.

Writing is a socially acceptable

Another writer spouting on about something that’s palpably not true, though I’d give him props for chutzpah.
I have the same reaction to the phrase, writer’s lie for a living, too. Again, it’s witty, but wrong.
Stories are not lies because their function is not to deceive, but to entertain and the reader/listener has engaged with a tale that amuses them.
Likewise, the faculty of imagining what other people might think and say is a skill that derives from out ability to emphasize and imagine other people as having agency.
Having worked as a mental health nurse with schizophrenic patients, and other Axis 1 disorders, what they suffer from is in no way comparable to what a write does.
I shall end this by stating I’m a boring old fart, shouting, “Get off my lawn!”
