  1. Even though all the books were not set entirely there, Florida for me is Travis McGee and The Busted Flush. Minus the actual heat, humidity, and mosquitoes.

    John D. MacDonald’s writing sticks with you years later. I learned a lot about how to write an introspective male character form MacDonald. Perhaps that helps explain some of the reviews.
