1. I type with ten fingers – but I just found out that I can type a lot faster with a better quality mechanical keyboard. It’s amazing how fast my mind can work when my fingers can fly.

2. If you speak faster then you can adeptly type with ten fingers, then you’re speaking faster than your mind is working.

   • If you listen to the drivel that comes out of most people’s mouths when not reciting a set script, you will quickly come to the conclusion that they are, in fact, speaking faster than their minds are working.

     • Exactly. I’m firmly rooted in the lower quintile of most people, read that faster than I can adeptly type with ten fingers, and don’t understand.

3. I type fast enough that I don’t have to slow my internal dialogue down to match the pace I can put words to screen. If I thought faster, I’d train myself to type faster. That’s the reason I choose to type over writing my works by hand.

   If Mr Michener is truly typing faster than he’s thinking I’d hate to be his copy editor.

5. Heh, I’m a hunt-n-peck type and whole words/ideas go missing because my mind and fingers aren’t on the same page! 😛

6. Ha! This makes sense to me. It’s not my typing speed that limits my word count when writing. It’s that my storytelling mind seems to be slow.
