  1. Properly cooked bacon is a half an an inch thick and served with gravy. That’s the way my grandmother cooked the bacon my grandfather salted and smoked when I was a kid. It’s a meat course.

  2. I think I’ve eaten at his place of employment. I’ve had floppy bacon, crisp bacon, and really crisp bacon, but I will never, ever willingly sample British Blackened Bacon again.

    • Certainly, British bacon should never be black (except maybe in very small spots due to accidental burning whilst getting the rest well enough done) but streaky bacon should always be crisp enough that it will shatter if you try to use a fork: you should have to eat it with your fingers. It should be grilled to give the bacon fat needed to fry your eggs and bread. This is not a healthy meal but I’m too old to care …
