Never cared for this guy and his tired similes. In his book on mystery writing he says he doesn’t care who murdered the professor in the library, and that it’s all about style.
I totally disagree. It is not all about style. A worm in a fancy suit is still a worm.
Read Derek Raymond’s I Was Dora Suarez if you want to read a memorable crime crime novel and the way these things should be written. Derek Raymond was the greatest crime writer of them all. The rest, all of them, including Ellroy & Dutch Leonard, do not even rate.
