PG, sorry that this is not relevant to this post but your “Contacts” page is currently giving errors when I try to send a message. My – initially intended to be private – message is as follows:
PG, of late I’ve been seeing some really weird behavior in my comments. In several recent cases I’ve submitted a comment, done an edit and saved the result so I see the edited version on screen.
Later when I come back the edit has vanished so it doesn’t really say what I intended. My latest comment on “Fuzzy Profound …” had a # in the text and a note following a # at the bottom but the #s and the note no longer appear.
However, based on my experience with other comments the missing text may reappear in a day or two.
In addition, when I go to the home page the number of comments shown for a post often is fewer than the actual number. Currently it shows two comments for Brighton where clicking on the post shows that there are three. This has been happening for some time and it is quite common to find recent articles where zero comments are reported for some time after actual ones start to appear.
Yes, I’ve been seeing this, too. I like to read the comments, but the only way to know whether there are any is to click on the post itself. The reportage on the Home page is always inaccurate.
It seems to only update maybe three, four times a day. But not always completely.
The recent comments also fails to update but sometimes it is current on an article page but not the home page.
Whatever manages automatic comment tracking has been glitching. For a couple months.
