I dunno. The cup of tea thing — that I agree with. But I’ve read Michener. The Source was 800 pages too long.
Lewis never said that length was the only thing he wanted from a book. If it were, he would not have bothered reading every single 16th-century book and manuscript in Duke Humfrey’s collection at the Bodleian Library – among many other things. He would have been happy to spend his time ploughing through the London directory.
